BIOGRAPHY

Most people know Avigail as a multi talented Music theatre performer and cabaret artist, or a sought after teacher and vocal coach but don't necessarily recognise that she has for many years had a parallel "performing" career as a voice artist and session singer.

Avigail started as a session singer in the late 1980s and soon became one of Sydney's most familiar voices. She was the voice of the first version of I Still Call Australia Home for Qantas that played around the country for many years, her version of Help for the NRMA won her much acclaim as well as several local and international awards and her wacky ad for Domayne in the late '90s still uses the tag line.

She has sung for just about every product available: cars, airlines, fast food, TV stations, lotteries, clothing stores, breakfast cereals, you name it she's probably sung it at some time!

She has also lent her vocal expertise to themes for TV shows such as Farscape and The Flying Doctors and to films such as Moby Dick and Mary.

Not content however to rest on her quite considerable laurels Avigail decided in the mid 1990s that she should extend her range of voice skills to "straight" work, after all she'd been speaking as well as singing on stage for many years!

So began Avigail's rise as a voice over artist. She is still one of the very few who are able to bridge both sides of the voice fence so to speak, often both singing and speaking for the same job.

Avigail is as with everything versatile. She is used for natural reads, character work, corporate reads, retail, and particularly for her range of accents.

Some of the products she has voiced include Harpers Bazaar, Optus, Nokia, Diet Coke, St George, Clinique, Smirnoff, Special K, Berlei, NRMA and SBS to name a few. She has also worked for international companies and has voiced several corporate videos.

Voice work has been Avigail's "day job" for many years and is an aspect of her career which she really enjoys. The spontaneity and versatility mean it is always challenging and lots of fun.

Another side to her voice work is Avigail's role as a vocal coach and voice consultant. She has worked on several films and theatre shows, including Natalie Wood Hollywood's Last Child and Fully Committed for the Ensemble Theatre.
